Previous retail experience was assembled on Unity and, basically, worked as a series of JPGs tied together by touch points. Late 2019 retail research and analysis pointed out pain points not only with physical experience, but also with the digital interface, as it got bloated with dead ends and unnecessary product information. After a swift discovery phase where core design principles were established, we broke down Google Nest offerings into neat solution categories, consisting of audio, video, security & awareness, connectivity and energy. This allowed for a seamless and easy to navigate brick and mortar experience. As the preparations were made for a global launch, COVID-19 paralized the retail experience due to strict regulations. After discussing them with the internal team at Google, we've pivoted into providing an automated one-touch experience until restrictions were lifted.
